Forex Broker Solutions: The Technology and Operations a Brokerage Needs
Buying a platform, a bridge and a CRM is the easy part. FXSUPPORT maps every layer of a forex brokerage stack and runs the MT4/MT5 servers, integrations and risk operations behind it, while you keep ownership and control.
Forex broker solutions explained layer by layer: MT5 platform, liquidity bridge, hosting, CRM, payments and risk operations, and who runs each one after launch.
What forex broker solutions are, and what most offers leave out
Forex broker solutions are the combined software, infrastructure and operational services that let a company accept clients, execute their trades, manage risk and handle their money. The term covers both products (platforms, bridges, CRMs) and the people and processes that keep them running.
Most vendor pages describe their own product and skip the question that decides whether a brokerage runs smoothly: who operates the stack after go-live? For MetaTrader 5, MetaQuotes answers it directly:
"You independently deploy our software on your own hardware, as well as maintain your server infrastructure and fully control support and administration. We do not offer SaaS or other similar solutions which would permit even partial external management or third-party control over your company's operations, and thus we have no access to your servers, accounts, or your clients' trading history."— MetaQuotes, MetaTrader 5 for Brokers (accessed October 2026)
The licence is only the start. Someone has to configure groups and symbols, keep the bridge connected, apply builds, check backups, watch exposure and fix incidents. That operational layer is where FXSUPPORT works.
FXSUPPORT provides outsourced MT4/MT5 technical support and managed operations for forex brokers and prop firms. We are vendor-neutral: FXSUPPORT is not affiliated with MetaQuotes Ltd. or with any vendor named on this page, and the third-party products below are technologies we work with, not partners.
The forex brokerage technology stack, layer by layer
A forex brokerage stack has about ten layers, from the trading platform to the website, and each needs an owner after launch.
| Layer | What it does | Typical options | FXSUPPORT service |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trading platform | Holds client accounts, prices, orders and positions | MetaTrader 5 (own licence), white label or grey label; legacy MT4 | MT5 support, MT4 support, MetaTrader administration |
| Liquidity bridge | Routes orders and prices between the platform and liquidity providers | PrimeXM XCore, oneZero Hub, Match-Trade bridge, MT5 Ultency, direct FIX | Bridge solutions, FIX API integration |
| Liquidity providers | Supply executable prices and fill A-book flow | Banks, prime-of-prime providers, ECNs | LP integration |
| Data feed | Quotes for symbols not priced by the bridge | Feeder or gateway per asset class | Data feed setup |
| Hosting and network | Runs trade, history and access servers | Own servers, data centre, cloud | Server hosting (UK, Netherlands), VPS hosting, DDoS hardening |
| CRM and client portal | Registration, KYC, deposits, IB commissions, sales | Commercial forex CRMs or custom builds over Manager/Web API | CRM solutions, API integration |
| Payments | Deposits and withdrawals by card, bank or payment systems | PSPs, crypto processors, MT5 built-in payments | Payment gateway integration |
| Plugins and automation | Custom server logic, reports, EAs | Server and manager plugins, Expert Advisors | Plugin development |
| Investment products | Money management and social trading | MAM/PAMM, copy trading | MAM/PAMM setup |
| Risk operations | Exposure, toxic flow, end-of-day checks | Bridge risk tools plus daily procedures | Risk management |
| Website and legal setup | Public site, company, licences | Web agency, corporate service provider | Website development, licensing and corporate services coordination |
Our forex broker solutions are modular: bring the components you already have, and we connect, configure and operate the rest.
Trading platform: MetaTrader 5 first, MT4 only if you already have it
For a new brokerage in 2026, the MetaTrader choice is effectively MetaTrader 5, because MetaQuotes no longer sells MT4 licences. Brokers that already run MT4 can keep supporting it, but new platform investment goes to MT5.
"The MetaTrader 4 trading platform licenses are no longer available for purchase. We focus our efforts on the development of MetaTrader 5, and further conceptual updates will only be released for this multi-asset platform."— MetaQuotes, MetaTrader 4 for Brokers (accessed October 2026)
MetaQuotes sells MT5 in three tiers: Entry with 1,000 real accounts, Standard with 25,000 and Enterprise with 200,000. Beyond account capacity, MetaQuotes' own comparison shows structural differences that matter to operations:
| Feature | MetaTrader 5 | MetaTrader 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Server architecture | Distributed | Single |
| Account groups | Unlimited | 512 |
| Symbols | Unlimited | 1,024 |
| Position accounting | Netting and hedging | Hedging |
| Pending order types | 6 | 4 |
| Timeframes | 21 | 9 |
| Manager API | C++, ASP.Net, PHP | C++ |
| Automated SQL export | Native (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) | Limited (MySQL) |
There are three ways to get onto MetaTrader. An MT5 grey label is a brokerage set up inside another company's licensed MetaTrader 5 server: you get your own client groups and your brand on the WebTrader, mobile apps, CRM and client portal, while the MT5 server licence stays with the provider. A white label gives more control than a grey label, and a full (main) licence from MetaQuotes gives the most, along with full responsibility for running the servers.
FXSUPPORT supports all three set-ups on the technical side, runs MT4 to MT5 migrations for brokers moving their client base, and helps with MetaTrader 5 licence onboarding when a broker applies for its own licence. For white label options, see our MetaTrader white label page.
If you are a trader looking for a platform to trade on, this page is written for brokerages instead; for them, the platform question is mostly about who administers it every day.
Liquidity, bridges and execution models
A liquidity bridge connects your trading platform to one or more liquidity providers and applies your execution model: A-book (pass trades to the market), B-book (keep risk internally) or hybrid rules by group, symbol or size. The bridge choice shapes cost, risk control and support needs for years.
The main options we work with, described from each vendor's own documentation:
- PrimeXM XCore: PrimeXM describes its MT4 Bridge and MT5 Gateway as "a powerful yet light-weight server side plugin which connects MT4 and MT5 platforms to the client's XCore order management and reporting engine". See PrimeXM XCore integration.
- oneZero Hub: oneZero describes its Hubs as Software-as-a-Service price and risk management systems, where "each Hub is a dedicated, hosted instance". See oneZero Hub integration.
- Match-Trade bridge: Match-Trade offers an MT4/MT5 bridge with risk management at a flat fee and states "No plugin installation on MT4 Server needed". See Match-Trade integration.
- MT5 Ultency: MetaQuotes calls Ultency "a native solution for the MetaTrader 5 platform" that connects to multiple liquidity providers at once.
- Direct FIX: the FIX Trading Community describes FIX as "a global, open standard that enables financial institutions to communicate trading information quickly, accurately and securely". Most LP connections use it. See FIX API integration.
The right choice depends on your flow, your LPs and whether you want hosted or self-managed infrastructure. FXSUPPORT configures the bridge, symbol mapping, LP sessions, A-book/B-book/hybrid routing and markups, then monitors connections, rejects and slippage as part of daily operations. More detail is on our forex bridge solutions page.
Infrastructure, hosting and uptime
Brokerage infrastructure is the set of servers, networks and security controls that the trading platform runs on. With an own MT5 licence, the broker chooses and manages the hosting; MetaQuotes' brokerage guide simply says: "Select the hosting provider to have the servers installed."
MetaTrader 5 is built for this. MetaQuotes says MT5 "is based on a distributed architecture, where different functions are performed on different servers", and recommends keeping traders off the trade server itself: "Since your traders will not be directly connecting to your trade server for security reasons, it's considered the best practice to place the Access Servers in geographical locations close to your traders."
FXSUPPORT's infrastructure service covers:
- Server hosting in the UK and the Netherlands, or management of servers you already own.
- Primary and backup trade servers, access servers placed near your clients, and tested backups.
- Monitoring of servers, services, disk, network, data feed and bridge connections, with alerts that reach an engineer 24/7.
- DDoS protection and security hardening: firewall rules, access control and restricted administrator access.
We work to a 99.9% uptime target on the infrastructure we manage. To put the number in context, Google's SRE availability table shows that 99.9% allows about 8.76 hours of downtime a year, or 43.2 minutes a month. Monitoring, failover and off-market maintenance windows matter as much as hardware.

Request a free technical review WhatsApp TelegramCRM, client portal, KYC and payments
The CRM and client portal are the business side of the stack: they register clients, run KYC, process deposits and withdrawals, pay introducing brokers and give sales a pipeline. They talk to the trading platform through its APIs, so integration quality decides whether accounts, balances and commissions stay in sync.
MetaQuotes lists what a brokerage needs alongside the platform: a CRM, "an embedded risk management system to monitor and manage risks", and "a KYC system connected (preferably automated such as Sumsub which is readily integrated with MetaTrader 5)". MT5 also offers built-in payments where "users can top up their trading accounts via bank transfer, card or payment systems".
MetaQuotes describes the Web API as the tool for "platform integration with web resources and other services of the company". FXSUPPORT uses the Manager and Web APIs to:
- Connect commercial forex CRMs or build custom CRM modules and client portals.
- Automate account creation, group assignment and balance operations after KYC approval.
- Sync IB and affiliate structures and commission calculations with trading data.
- Integrate payment gateways for cards, bank wires, e-wallets and crypto processors, with reconciliation between payment records and platform balance operations.
- Set up MAM/PAMM and copy-trading modules where your product needs them.
For cards, the PCI Security Standards Council says "PCI DSS provides a baseline of technical and operational requirements designed to protect payment account data". Which obligations apply depends on how your payment provider handles card data, so confirm this with your PSP.
Risk operations: the daily work after launch
Risk operations are the routine checks that keep exposure, pricing and client flow under control every trading day. They are the part of forex broker solutions that no software licence delivers on its own.
A typical FXSUPPORT daily cycle looks like this:
- Before the session: check that trade, history and access servers, the data feed and every LP session are connected; review overnight alerts and logs.
- Session and calendar checks: verify trading sessions, holiday schedules and DST changes on all symbols, since a wrong session table can open or close markets at the wrong hour.
- During trading: watch net exposure by symbol and group, bridge rejects, slippage and margin levels; escalate to your dealing desk when limits are hit.
- Flow review: maintain toxic-flow lists of accounts showing latency arbitrage or other abusive patterns, and move them to the groups or routing your policy defines.
- End of day: deliver evening and end-of-day reports on exposure, P&L by book, swaps and unusual activity.
- Weekly and on change: apply MetaTrader builds in agreed windows, test backups, review user rights and document every configuration change.
Your dealing and risk managers keep the decisions; we supply monitoring, reports and the changes you approve. See forex risk management for the full scope.
Launch vs run: who does what
A brokerage stack involves three parties: the broker, the software vendors and the operator. Clear ownership avoids the classic failure where everyone assumes someone else is watching.
| Task | Broker | Software vendors | FXSUPPORT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Licences, company and regulatory obligations | Owns | Supply licences | Coordinates paperwork and technical requirements |
| Platform software and builds | Approves changes | Develops and releases | Installs, configures and updates |
| Servers and network | Owns or rents | Not involved (for own MT5 licence) | Hosts or manages, monitors 24/7 |
| Bridge and LP connectivity | Signs LP agreements | Runs bridge product | Configures routing, mapping, sessions; monitors |
| Risk policy and dealing decisions | Owns | Provide tools | Reports, alerts, executes approved changes |
| CRM, payments, KYC | Chooses providers | Provide products | Integrates and maintains connections |
| Incident response | Informed, decides on client communication | Fix product defects | First response, diagnosis, recovery, escalation |
Regulators expect this ownership to stay with the broker. The UK FCA's rule on outsourcing is a clear example:
"If a firm (other than a common platform firm) outsources critical or important operational functions or any relevant services and activities, it remains fully responsible for discharging all of its obligations under the regulatory system"— FCA Handbook, SYSC 8.1.6R (accessed October 2026)
That is why we work on your servers and accounts with documented access, change logs and a handover pack: you keep the credentials, the data and the ability to move to another provider. This is general information, not legal advice; check the outsourcing rules of your own regulator.
How to choose forex broker solutions
Choose forex broker solutions by who will own and operate each layer, not by the longest feature list. A strong stack with no one watching it fails faster than a simple one that is well run.
- Fix the business model first. A-book, B-book or hybrid, retail or prop, target regions and asset classes decide the platform tier, bridge and LPs.
- Decide grey label, white label or own licence. More control means more responsibility for servers and compliance.
- Check ownership. Make sure licences, servers, domains and admin credentials are in your company's name.
- Prefer open integration points. Manager API, Web API and FIX make vendors replaceable.
- Ask who monitors at night and at weekends. Market open on Sunday evening and DST changes are when problems appear.
- Get a written scope and exit plan. Components, monitoring, reports, escalation, documentation and handover should be defined from day one.
- Compare total cost, not entry price. Licence tier, bridge fees, LP terms, hosting, CRM, payment fees and operations staff all add up.
FXSUPPORT does not publish fixed prices. The cost of our work depends on the number of servers and platforms, bridges and LP connections, custom plugins, reporting needs and the coverage hours you want. Ask for a quote after a free technical review.
Licences and company setup around the stack
Technology is only usable once the company and licences exist. FXSUPPORT coordinates three steps where new brokers often get stuck.
MetaTrader 5 licence onboarding
We prepare the MetaQuotes application and document pack, review it before submission and set up the servers after approval. See MetaQuotes licence documents and MT5 server setup after licence.
Company formation
We coordinate IBC formation in jurisdictions that work for MetaTrader licensing, with an activity clause that covers trading of financial instruments. See IBC company formation.
Forex licences
A company is not a licence. Saint Lucia, for example, is used for IBCs, but the FAQ of the Saint Lucia Registry of International Business Companies states that Saint Lucia "does not currently regulate or licence Forex Trading or Binary Options business". See Saint Lucia IBC and forex licence.
We work alongside your lawyers and corporate service providers. For the full sequence, read how to start a forex brokerage.
How an FXSUPPORT engagement works
An engagement starts with a free technical review and a written scope. Nothing changes on your systems before you approve it.
- Technical review: you describe your platform, bridge, LPs, CRM, hosting and pain points.
- Gap list and proposal: we list risks and missing pieces by layer and propose set-up work, ongoing support or both.
- Onboarding: access under your control, monitoring connected, configuration documented.
- Set-up or remediation: we deliver agreed projects, such as a bridge change, MT4 to MT5 migration, CRM integration or new hosting.
- Ongoing operations: 24/7 monitoring, daily risk reports, updates, backups and incident response, with regular reviews.
